Originally commissioned by Louis XV for the horse-pond at the Château de Marly, the statue was meant to represent the everlasting struggle between man and nature, but also could be interpretted as a hopeful reminder that man and nature are capable of working together. This sculpture is currently at the Louvre in Paris.
